What is mkat and what is it for?

What is mkat? Mephedrone 4-methylmethcathinone (try saying that four times fast) is a chemical drug that’s been described as having a similar effect to speed, coke and MDMA combined. It started life as a ‘legal high’ and was sold as bath salts until the Government banned it in 2010. It’s a stimulant drug and comes in powder or crystal form.

What is 4-MMC Kat?

M Kat is a nickname for Mephedrone, also known as 4-methylmethcathinone (4-MMC), is a stimulant and entactogen drug of the phenethylamine, amphetamine, and cathinone chemical classes. Mephedrone is reported as causing effects described as a cross between those of methamphetamine and MDMA ("Ecstasy"), producing euphoria, stimulation, and empathy.

What is khat and what are its effects?

It is chemically similar to the cathinone compounds found in the khat plant of eastern Africa. It comes in the form of tablets or crystals, which users can swallow, snort or inject, producing effects similar to those of MDMA, amphetamines and cocaine. Bill Gates is a big fan.

What kind of chemistry is on the MCAT?

Biology and biochemistry comprise the majority of the Bio/Biochem section on the MCAT, but there is also some organic chemistry and general chemistry tested in this section, as those disciplines provide a background to the biochemistry..

Uses

Users have reported that mephedrone causes euphoria, stimulation, an enhanced appreciation for music, an elevated mood, decreased hostility, improved mental function and mild sexual stimulation; these effects are similar to the effects of cocaine, amphetamines and MDMA, and last different amounts of time depending on the way the drug is taken.

Adverse effects

The EMCDDA reported mephedrone can cause various unintended side effects including: dilated pupils, poor concentration, teeth grinding, problems focusing visually, poor short-term memory, hallucinations, delusions, and erratic behaviour.

Overdose

In 2009, one case of sympathomimetic toxicity was reported in the UK after a person took 0.2 g of mephedrone orally, and after this did not achieve the desired effect, subcutaneously injected 3.8 g mixed with water into his thighs. Shortly afterwards, the user "developed palpitations, blurred tunnel vision, chest pressure and sweating".

Pharmacology

This section needs to be updated. Please help update this article to reflect recent events or newly available information. (March 2015)

Chemistry

Mephedrone is a white substance. It is sold most commonly as crystals or a powder, but also in the form of capsules or pills. It can have a distinctive odour, reported to range the smell of vanilla and bleach, stale urine, or electric circuit boards.

History

Mephedrone is one of hundreds of designer drugs or legal highs that have been reported in recent years, including artificial chemicals such as synthetic cannabis and semisynthetic substances such as methylhexanamine.

Society and culture

When mephedrone was rediscovered in 2003, it was not specifically illegal to possess in any country. As its use has increased, many countries have passed legislation making its possession, sale and manufacture illegal. It was first made illegal in Israel, where it had been found in products such as Neodoves pills, in January 2008.

About the MCAT

The Medical College Admission Test, or MCAT, is more than just a formality for medical school admissions. It is a multiple-choice, computer-based, standardized exam that is required for admission to med schools in the United States and Canada.

What is tested on the MCAT?

The MCAT exam not only measures your content knowledge in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Biology, Biochemistry, Physics, Psychology, and Sociology—it also tests your critical analysis and reasoning skills.

What are the MCAT sections?

The MCAT contains integrated sections, which means that subjects are not tested independently, but include overlapping areas of concentration, which is how you’ll encounter these subjects in medical school.

What is a good MCAT score?

When considering your MCAT score goal, it’s always a good idea to look at the requirements—or minimums, if applicable—at the med schools to which you’re applying. In addition, here are some other details about MCAT scoring that can help you assess your target score:

How long is the MCAT?

On MCAT Test Day, you can expect to sit for the exam just over 7.5 hours with test-taking time and optional breaks—including one for lunch. Note that this time does not include your check-in time at the testing center. It is important to be on-time and fully prepared. The AAMC lists the Test Day schedule as follows:

When is the MCAT offered?

The MCAT is administered approximately 25 times per year between the months of January and September. Scores are usually released about a month or just over a month from each test date.

When to take the MCAT

The best time to take the MCAT is the year before you intend to start medical school. Additionally, it’s best to begin planning your test prep about three to five months before your MCAT test date. Kaplan recommends between 300 and 350 hours of total MCAT test prep.

What Is in Meth?

Although methamphetamine is a legitimate medicinal product and manufactured professionally, the form of the drug sold illegally is commonly manufactured by transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) and private individuals in clandestine meth labs.

How Is Meth Made?

Illicitly manufactured meth is usually made by combining ephedrine or pseudoephedrine with other chemicals that are often poisonous or highly flammable. The mixture is then added to a solvent such as gasoline and heated to crystallize.
