A fissure or groove that separates the two hemispheres is called the great longitudinal fissure. The two sides of the brain are joined at the bottom by the corpus callosum
corpus callosum
The corpus callosum (Latin for "tough body"), also callosal commissure, is a wide, thick nerve tract, consisting of a flat bundle of commissural fibers, beneath the cerebral cortex in the brain. The corpus callosum is only found in placental mammals.
Arachoid membrane ( below the subdural space) with RACHNOID TRABECULAED CREATING THE SUBARACHNOID SPACE and connecting to pia mater on the superficial side but not the brain gyro on the deep side
Which sulcus separates the frontal and temporal lobes?
Central sulus. separates frontal and parietal lobes. Lateral sulcus. separates the frontal and temporal lobe. Lobes. 5 total - 4 names after the overlying cranial bone (frontal, parietal, occipital, and temporal) and the 5 th is medial ( deep) to the lateral sulcus.
Where does CSF pass through the midline?
midline; begins in midbrain extends into medulla oblongata and becomes the central canal of the spinal cord, Contain two later apertures and one medical aperture, where CSF passes out of the ventricles into the subarachnoid space where it bathes the surface of the brain, spinal cord, caudal equine, the CSF is reabsorbed by the arachnoid granulations (VILLus) in the superior sagittal sinus of the brain
What is corpus callousum?
Corpus callousum. a tract of white matter at the base go the longitudinal fissure that interconnects the 2 cerebral hemispheres ( A type of commissural fiber) fissures. deep groves that subdivide the cerebral hemisphere. Longitudinal fissure. divides the 2 hemisphere. Gyri. flods separated by the fissure and sulci.
Which hemisphere contains the basal nucleus?
Basal nuclei (ganaglion) deep within each hemisphere of cerebrum ; large masses of gray matter that provides subconscious control of skeletal muscle tone and coordinate conscious movement pattern. Cranial meninges. Continuous with the spinal meninges with cranium and CSF protect the brain.
