I just replaced two switches that were in the same box. The switches I removed do not have a screw for a ground wire. The ground wire from the source was wrapped around the ground wires from the lights and they were left loose in the box. The box is metal. The ground wires can't be left loose in the box, even if they have incidental contact with the box itself. Use the proper screw and secure them to the box. As for the devices, some of the better ones are "self grounding" and have a little piece of metal at the top that makes contact with the mounting screw to ensure a good connection.
